67 Minutes For Mandela
Staff from Power Measurement and Distribution (PTY) LTD joined thousands of other do-gooders across the country to mark Nelson Mandela’s birthday on 18 July.
Teams at the company’s three main offices participated in the 67 Minutes for Mandela, clocking up a total of 201 minutes collectively.
At the Head Office in George, members of staff made sandwiches and handed them out to those travelling by foot from a local settlement into town.
In Cape Town, sandwiches were also distributed in Joe Slovo, which is one of the largest informal settlements in the country and home to more than 20,000 residents. At the same time, staff in Johannesburg loaded one of the company vehicles with food and delivered it to an organisation caring for the homeless.
Marietjie Launder, General Manager, said: “As a company, we are committed to giving back to the local community. Madiba Day is a time in which we can come together and make a small difference in the lives of those in need.”
