SubMetering or Electricity Reselling

Power Measurement & Distribution (PM&D) have been active in the electricity reselling market since 2004. We originally offered our services to a single Residential Sectional Title Site of 38 units and now supply electricity to in excess of 30,000 consumers.

PM&D have two basic offers depending on the client’s requirements and supply availability and Utility restrictions.

The most popular option is for PM&D to take over the bulk account, take responsibility for the internal supply of electricity and take on the responsibility of paying the bulk account direct to the Supply Authority.

The tenants are charged a tariff that is the same as that which the tenant would have been eligible to if he were a direct consumer with the local Supply Authority. PM&D measure each tenant individually with either prepayment meters or post payment meters, as required. All common area loads are measured as well and the payment of this consumption is then for the responsibility of the Body Corporate or Home Owners Association, as applicable.

PM&D have a national sales chain that includes amongst others all Pick ‘n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers and Lewis stores nationally.

The website http://www.iPay.co.za allows for prepayment consumers to purchase either via the web or via their cell phone provided they have a valid credit card.

The website http://www.prepaid24.co.za allows for customers without credit cards to purchase on-line via an eft facility. The consumer makes an electronic payment and a SMS is sent to them with the relevant prepayment electricity token.

PM&D offer, as part of this option, 24/7 technical support.

The alternative offer is for PM&D to make their sales chain available to the Body Corporate/HOA and sell on their behalf. In this case PM&D is not responsible for the settling of the bulk account or the common area loads. The Body Corporate/HOA determines the tariffs and PM&D serve as a sales facilitator.

PM&D pay over to the Body Corporate/HOA, on a monthly basis, the tenants purchases less PM&D’s costs. The level of technical support offered is negotiated up front and will be determined by the agreed costs.
